It was a sunny morning in Brighton as our group of 4 - Sam, Adam, Andy, and Cat - loaded onto the Channel Diver for a 9am departure to explore the Indiana. An hour later, we arrived at the site and descended the shot line to explore the 125-year old wreck. The Indiana was a cargo steamer which sank on March 1, 1901 after a collision with the German steamship Washington. We were greeted by an excellent 8 meters of visibility and a gentle current. The wreck was teeming with life, including an enormous shoal of fish about the size of a single decker bus. Adam and I counted 7 congers, lurking in different bits of wreckage, along with the odd crab and occasion Blenny. The second dive was a drift, with a fast current, we zipped along the seabed, seeing multiple starfish, including one enormous chap about 12 inches across, and a small shark. All in all it was a lovely day out with surprisingly good weather given the forecast!
