Dorset Shipwreck Project - Trip 1 Report

Updated: Mar 13, 2020

Three intrepid RSAC members (Chris, David B and Krzystzof) joined Cameron's Dorset Shipwreck Project with five other project participants. We dived on two sites, the Brandy wreck and the Alexander, one each side of Portland Bill. Not much left of the wrecks after two hundred years, but we saw an anchor on each site and a number of cannons on the seabed as well as mortars.

The team on the dive deck of the Wey Chieftain IV.

The objective was to survey and record the site and we made good progress despite a number of setbacks. We had two BSAC National Instructors with us putting us through our paces with very detailed planning. The NAS (Nautical Archaeology Society) course we did recently was also very useful. Thanks to Cameron for a very well organised trip.
