As all RSAC members know, we have been very successful over the past few months at attracting new members, but sometimes not so successful at introducing them properly. So here's a proper intro to five of our recent new members, each telling them a bit about themselves and why they joined as well as a photo so you can recognise them and say hi next time you see them !

Debbie Liu

Why have you joined the club?

Because Iqra did & really enjoyed the try-dive.

What would you like to achieve/get out off joining the club?

Exploring new places and learning new things

What is you occupation?

Fingerprint Examiner

What are your hobbies outside of the club?

Gigs, festivals, anime, tattoos, travel, films, eating and the occasional trek.

Where is your dream location to dive?

I don't know yet. All of it!

Where was your favourite dive?

Silfra Fissure, Iceland

Provide a random/interesting fact about you?

I have really bendy hands...My thumbs bend back on themselves at right angles- apparently that's not normal.

Iqra Khan

Why have you joined the club?

I have always been fascinated with marine life and the peaceful socialising of life underwater appealed to the introvert within me

What would you like to achieve/get out off joining the club?

Getting a new hobby and one that I will enjoy but stick to for a very long time. Exploring the Marine life of the UK.

What is you occupation?

Marketing

What are your hobbies outside of the club?

Hiking, travel, gardening, salsa, yoga, sporty things that involve water

Where is your dream location to dive?

Kimbe Bay, Papua New Guinea and the Galapagos Islands

Where was your favourite dive?

I did a PADI discover dive course and that was in Tufi in Papua New Guinea which was beautiful

Provide a random/interesting fact about you?

I can move across a room very quickly whilst holding the position of the backwards human bridge

Paul Tobin

Why have you joined the club?

I learned to dive with PADI about 15 years ago but have not done much diving in the past 9 years. I recently moved back to the UK and want to spend more time diving and explore UK diving options.

What would you like to achieve/ get out of joining the club?

To improve my skills and able able to set up my equipment as if second nature - my first goal is to reach Sports Diver level.

What is your occupation?

Accountant

What are your hobbies outside of the club?

Travel and watching sports - ideally together

Where is your dream location to dive?

Port Talbot Deepwater Harbour (Not really- but I grew up there and used to watch the professional divers from the steelworks practice there when I was young) - maybe somewhere in South America as it's somewhere I've never been - but I'll need to research a specific site.

Where was your favourite dive?

Similian Islands in Thailand

Provide a random/interesting fact about you.

I once nearly missed a flight because I was locked inside a hotel where there had been a murder overnight and the place was locked down by the police. The murder weapon was a fire extinguisher!! It wasn't me by the way (in case you were starting to worry).

Matt Rowe

Why have you joined the club?

To learn how to Scuba Dive and then have new friends to dive with.

What would you like to achieve/ get out of joining the club?

Obtain the highest level of diving and related education I can practically achieve. Enjoy lots of great dive trips, while ensuing I contribute to the club as a way of saying thank you for the education!

What is your occupation?

IT Programme Manager

What are your hobbies outside of the club?

BBQ's (I have 4), our two dogs, football fan (not player!), Snorkelling, Jet Skis, Travel

Where is your dream location to dive?

Not educated enough yet to really say, but i think it would have to be Australasia

Where was your favourite dive?

Almost Ocean Diver, just waiting for the water to warm up!

Provide a random/interesting fact about you.

My mothers maiden name is "Bugslag" which came third in a competition for worst surname!

Thanos Moros

Why have you joined the club?

Just for fun as an extra hobby.

What would you like to achieve/ get out of joining the club?

Do more dives and organise some trips.

What is your occupation?

Engineer

What are your hobbies outside of the club?

Cycling, Rugby and motorbikes

Where is your dream location to dive?

Caribbean, Egypt, Thailand

If you are already a diver, where was your favourite dive?

The countries mentioned above as I thoroughly enjoyed them and would dive in all three again.

Richmond Sub-Aqua Club (RSAC) is Branch no. 1489 of The British Sub-Aqua Club (BSAC), the governing body of scuba diving in the UK. Since RSAC's foundation in 1986 we have been the home of scuba diving in the Richmond area of South West London. Our instructors are nationally

qualified and accredited by BSAC to provide scuba training and internationally recognised scuba diving certifications. We welcome new members from the age of 14 years. All members of Richmond Sub-Aqua Club are automatically also members of BSAC.
