Richmond Sub-Aqua Club (RSAC)
RSAC was founded in 1986 as a Branch of the British Sub-Aqua Club (BSAC). BSAC is the biggest and the most widely recognised amateur diving organisation globally. BSAC’s training and safety standards are second to none and are used as a benchmark by other diving organisations around the world. BSAC’s primary strength lies in its club/branch system run on a not-for-profit basis.
We have around 95 members, including 15 Advanced/Open Water Instructors and a further dozen Assistant Diving Instructors. Our Instructor team are keen to teach and help in all aspects of diving and diving equipment – there will always be someone who has done it before and is willing to pass on their knowledge and experience.
The Club is run by a Committee elected by our members at the Annual General Meeting.
Being part of BSAC, the governing body of scuba diving in the UK, offers a host of concrete benefits to RSAC's members, such as free monthly subscription to SCUBA magazine, free world-wide third-party liability insurance, discounts in BSAC shop and on diving holidays.
Club night is every Monday evening between 8:30 and 10:30 at Pools on the Park in Richmond. We encourage all members to attend Club nights both to practise and improve their skills and kit familiarity in the pool (length: 33m/100ft), and to meet and socialise with other club members.
When not using the pool for training purposes, many of our members also use the pool for lane swimming as part of their personal fitness/wellbeing programmes.
Dives are organised throughout the year for training, experience and for fun. We have our own Rigid Inflatable Boat (RIB) and also dive using skippered boats. Every year longer trips are arranged to places like the Red Sea, Cyprus, Lanzarote, Malta and Scotland.
RSAC is a particularly sociable club holding well attended social events such as barbecues, bowling, paint balling, restaurant visits and nights out in the pub. After our pool sessions on Monday nights a visit to the Sun Inn for a drink and an opportunity to discuss your latest diving exploits is pretty much a must!
If you are interested in joining RSAC or would like to learn more about the Club, please drop us a line and we will quickly get in touch.
Whether you want to learn to dive or you are already a qualified scuba diver (certified by PADI, BSAC or any other agency) we welcome you.
We accept diving members from the age of 14 years. If you are under 16 years old you must be accom-panied by a parent or guardian who is also an RSAC member. Download our Safeguarding Policy.
RSAC annual membership fees:
There is a one-off joining fee of £30. Any try dive fee (£20) is deducted from the Ocean Diver Course fee should you join RSAC to learn to dive.
RSAC membership automatically includes annual membership of BSAC. As a member you will receive a free monthly copy of SCUBA magazine.
We meet every Monday evening from 20.30 to 22.30 at Pools on the Park in Richmond.
